Outsider Tip
Flat trails make Silver Lake especially ideal for visitors with baby carriages or wheelchairs.
Volunteer
Help maintain the grounds at Silver Lake during Volunteer Day, the first Saturday of every month.
Bring your binoculars and mosey up to the new, expanded observation platform for a peek at the more than 200 types of birds that inhabit or pass through Silver Lake Nature Center. What you don’t spot there, you can find along the 4.5 miles of gentle trails that wind through the park and wetlands, which are also refuges for more than 20 kinds of butterflies.
Want to know more? Pop into the Education Center, home of a few resident turtles, fish and other animals and ask the naturalists.
COME PREPARED
Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.
DON'T MISS
Tales and Trails, an all-ages, unscary Halloween-season walk through the woods, featuring costumed naturalists who will shed light on some amazing nature facts.
