Outsider Tip
The club sponsors a series of annual rides, including the scenic Schuylkill Century and the New Hope to New York ride in September, as well as two three-day weekend events.
Regular group rides are open to anyone who wants to come along. If you want to become a member of the club, be prepared for a seriously social schedule — there are some 1,000 members and annual banquets are well attended, as is the summer picnic.
You’ll get discounts on new bikes as well as bike maintenance with membership in this club, which also produces a monthly newsletter that features new rides, upcoming cycling events and news. The club supports various groups that seek to help disadvantaged children learn to ride and advocates the use of bicycles as alternative transportation.
COME PREPARED
There is a small annual fee for membership; group rides accommodate novice riders as well as experienced cyclists.
DON'T MISS
A weekly ride, leaving from Lloyd Hall in Fairmount Park every Sunday.
